Home modification

Small changes to your home can help you stay living safely and comfortably.


Are you finding that doing things like getting up the front step, hanging out the washing or even reaching the top kitchen cupboard is not as easy as it used to be? Modifications to your home and outdoor areas can make doing these things easy again.

Our Occupational Therapists are here to help you understand why you are finding these things hard and what modifications you can choose to make it easier to stay safe and well at home.

Home modifications can include;

  • Re-organising
  • Grab rails
  • Hand rails
  • Level taps
  • Step-wedges

  • Bathroom modifications
  • Added lighting.

Eligibility criteria*

  • You need to be aged over 65 or over 50 for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islanders.
  • Some services may be available to people aged under 65.

How can I pay?

There are several ways to access our services and programs, including the funding options outlined below.

Government Funding

Home Care Package, Commonwealth Home Support Program and Department of Veterans’ Affairs options.
